Broader personal horizons

At Kuper, athletics are complemented by rich opportunities to participate in clubs and co-curricular activities. In the Junior School, Kuper’s "International Night" and "Science Fair" are good examples of events that give children a chance to expand personal horizons.

In the Middle and Senior Schools, our relatively small size promotes friendly interaction between students and staff. A variety of clubs is offered which focus on specific interests and encourage active involvement. The Kuper Student Council provides excellent leadership opportunities. Each homeroom elects a representative to work with faculty and administration in developing activities for students.

FIELD TRIPS AND CLASS OUTINGS

The Junior School at Kuper Academy has always been a leader in providing co-educational field experiences for young people. The program of outings includes a variety of bilingual, educational experiences such as Classe Rouge, Classe Neige and a Grade 6 graduation excursion.

At the secondary levels, various day and overnight outings, coordinated with the curriculum, broaden the perspective of our students. An overnight trip to the Laurentian Mountains in September promotes friendship and camaraderie among cycle one students.

Kuper Academy actively promotes cultural exchanges, tours and educational excursions. Recent activities have included an exchange with students in Rabastens, France, a tour of Italy, a trip to Mistissini by private plane and work at an oceanographic institute in New Brunswick.

These unique learning experiences open new worlds to young men and women on the threshold of adulthood.

FAMILY PARTICIPATION

Kuper Academy views parents, alumni and friends of the school as valued participants in our educational mission.

Parents help the school in a variety of ways including: assistance with special events and activities, working in the Kuper Shop and the library, baking and providing other donations for fundraisers and charities, coaching, hosting excursions to business, professional or industrial sites, serving on graduation committees or organizing carpools for transportation to games and activities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

"From those to whom much is given, much is expected." At Kuper we emphasize the vital link between leadership and civic responsibility.

A variety of annual community service and charitable projects highlight Kuper’s commitment to educating young people for a life which combines productivity
and compassion.

Senior School students are responsible for completing a specific number of voluntary community service hours throughout each academic year.

Kuper is a proud supporter of the Quebec Society for Disabled Children for which it has raised over one hundred thousand dollars earmarked to the renovation of its fabled Camp Papillion. In addition, each spring dozens of middle and senior school students participate in la grande corvée, a big clean up of the campgrounds and facilities.

INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER SERIES

Started in 2005 as a parent lead initiative the International Speaker Series was created to expose students to Canadians who have had an impact on the world stage.  In its four years Kuper students have had the opportunity to hear from distinguished Canadians including Lt. Gen Romeo Dallaire, David Frum, Margaret Somerville and Marc Kielburger. In addition to providing the students with a unique experience, usually reserved to the field of higher education, parents are also given the opportunity to meet these great Canadians.
