Well-being
for the body and the spirit
PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS IN
THE JUNIOR SCHOOL
Preschool and Kindergarten
classes participate in gym activities which
develop cooperation and good sportsmanship. A preschool playground is also available
for regular outdoor activity. In the latter elementary cycles, three weekly
gym periods maintain fitness and skills in gymnastics, ball handling,
climbing, running and game play.
Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship, cooperation, safety and
respect for peers. Interschool teams in soccer, basketball and hockey
provide excellent chances for young athletes, while a well-organized house
system provides a vehicle for the inclusion of all students in sports and
activities. The Junior
School house system
promotes supportive friendships and friendly competition.
Throughout the
elementary years, students participate in weekly house activities
which may include intramural games or academic competitions. House
points are also awarded for good behaviour and leadership. A winning house is celebrated at the end of each school year.
MIDDLE AND
SENIOR SCHOOL ATHLETICS

The goal of the
secondary physical education program is to develop a lifelong appreciation
for fitness and sport. In the Middle and Senior Schools,
Phys. Ed classes are offered twice a cycle at
every level.
A
variety of sport options are provided to meet the interests and abilities of all
students. Kuper
Academy is a member
of the Greater Montreal Athletic Association fielding teams for boys and
girls in soccer, football, golf, tennis, hockey, basketball, swimming,
rugby, touch football, lacrosse,
cross-country running, and track and field.

Our teams are
competitive and sportsmanship is a guiding rule. A modern weight and
fitness room is also available and Kuper’s private shuttle bus
transports students to games in comfort and security.
